VERSALAYER ACOUSTIC INSULATION FLOORING BROCHURE

Fixing Details

Preparation for Conversions

Ensure there are no holes or gaps in the floor to be treated. Small gaps can be filled with mastic, or for more severe problems, overlay with Euroform Acoustic Overlay before commencing treatment.
If Euroform Acoustic Overlay is to be used, it is simply laid over the floor surface without any fixing. The Overlay is heavy enough to cling to the floor surface without the requirement of glue or nails. When installing the Overlay, loose lay it over the floor surface and trim the edges with a sharp craft knife to enfure a perfect fit between the joints of the insulation. Before installing the floating floor insulation, ensure the floor surface is reasonably flat and level, so concrete floors will need treating with a levelling compound or screed if not already treated.

Installing Floating Floor For Timber / Concrete Deck

Versalayer is supplied in rolls that are unrolled and laid on the floor wall to wall with the edges butt jointed. Trimming can be done with the aid of a sharp craft knife or scissors and offcuts can be re-used. The tongue and grooved Verapanel should be applied directly on top of the insulation with the joints glued using PVA wood adhesive or our own Acoustic Sealant. If two layers of 12mm Versapanel are to be used for the floating floor, they should be installed with the first layer loose laid directly on top of the insulation with the joints firmly butt jointed. The second layer can then be applied directly on top overlapping the joints of the bottom boards and glued and screwed to them. No mechanical fixings must be used which could penetrate the insulation. Any screws used on the second layer of Versapanel should be no longer than 25mm. In both cases, a gap of approximately 5mm should be left between the floating floor and the existing walls which can be filled with our Acoustic Sealant.

Concrete Screed

If a concrete screed is to go on top of the Versalayer, the insulation must be laid Felt Side Uppermost with the joints overlapped by 50mm and lapped up the walls to contain the screed. The insulation can be trimmed down to floor level once the screed has cured. When applying the skirting boards, allow 2-3mm gap between the skirting and the top of the flooring. This gap does not have to be filled with Acoustic Sealant if the edge of the floating floor has already been fillled.

Dividing Walls or Partitions

Load bearing and studwork partitions should be constructed from the base floor before installation of floating floors.
Under no circumstances should Versalayer be used as a load bearing component.
